Neti Pots Everywhere!

You ever have those days or weeks when the same thing keeps popping up over and over? It was a Neti Pot kind of week for me!

I stopped by Bed, Bath, and Beyond and what do you know, they had Neti Pots at the front register! They were calling them a Nasal Cleansing Pot.

Then I had a random conversation with a stranger and he mentioned that he was heading for the store to buy a Neti Pot! We had a great conversation about how helpful the pot can be and I recommended several local resources for him and told him if he couldn't find what he was looking for to try Amazon.com as I came across several pots there that I will be posting about soon.

Would you rather use a Neti Pot or a Nose Bidet?

Fortunately they are both the same thing! Oprah may have made the term "Nose Bidet" famous when she invited a member of her audience to the stage and invited her to try out the Nose Bidet with Dr. Oz.

Now the tricky thing is that people are having trouble finding the Nose Bidet because of spelling. Let's be honest, for most of us in North America, we are not users of bidets.

I found that there are lots of mispellings of the word bidet which can make it difficult for people to find what they are looking for. (hint, just call it a Neti Pot!)

Saline Solution for Your Neti Pot

What is the best saline solution for your Neti Pot?

You have several options. You can use a premade solution or do it the old-fashioned way and make your own at home.

The basic solution is:

Approximately 1/2 cup/up to 8 ounces of lukewarm water
1/4 teaspoon of NON-iodized salt

Make sure the salt is completely dissolved into the water.

You may find that in the beginning you want to reduce the amount of salt. Here is a little tip for making and using your saline solution: start with a small amount of salt, if it feels like it is "stinging" a bit in your nose, ADD more salt.
